Employment Support

Employers and employees both have workplace rights and responsibilities. Employers are obligated by law to provide a safe and healthy work environment. Understanding what your rights and entitlements are and what is expected of you is the first stage of any employment relationship. So too is having access to advice and support when something goes wrong or you feel your not being treated in a fair manner the way you should be. There are rules to help protect employees in the workplace especially for those who are young and inexperienced and starting employment for the first time.

Apprentices and trainees are considered employees and are normally contracted to an employer for a nominal period of time, enabling them to successfully gain competence in their chosen trade as an apprentice, or vocational area as a trainee. As such they are entitled to receive entitlements the same as other employees such as: annual leave, sick leave, public holidays, superannuation, workers compensation and allowances.

An Employee/Trainee Legal Plan provides employment support on a 24/7 basis across a number of areas to help employees and trainees to better understand their legal rights and obligations in the workplace:

> Discrimination in hiring

> Problems with proper compensation (wage entitlements)

> Discrimination or Harrassment on the job

> Problems with working conditions

> Employment Contract disputes

> Workers Compensation Claims

> Unfair Dismissal

> Job related threats to privacy

> Problems with Superannuation

> Problems with Long Service Entitlements

> Theft in the workplace

A Legal Plan also allows an apprentice or trainee to protect their rights, their finances and their future. How, by giving them the opportunity to seek advice without fear of cost and by helping them:

> Save hundreds of dollars in legal fees

> Make timely and accurate decisions

> React and respond more quickly to improve legal outcomes

> Achieve more preventive goals

> Reduce personal and family stress
